Discover Noto, the 'stone garden' of eastern Sicily with Hermes Sicily's tour guides. Noto is a small town few miles southern of Syracuse. It's town center, since 2006, has been declared an Unesco world heritage site thanks to its extraordinary Baroque architecture. The terrible earthquake which destroyed south-eastern Sicily in 1693 was an opportunity for the rebirth of this town which nowadays offers to visitors an incredible scenography of churches and aristocratic buildings realized using the local golden colored limestone. Among the many monuments the cathedral stands out. It has become famous due to the devastating collapse of the dome but now, thanks to an unique in the world restoration work, it once again stands out in the Sicilian town. Noto is also famous for its cultural activities and its colors, especially on the occasion of the 'Infiorata', the flower festival wich every year in May, fills the town with splendid floral designs. Our guided tours of the baroque town center of Noto are carried out by licensed tour guides. The private tour can be booked all around the year, at your preferred starting time although, due to the openig hours of the churches, it is advisable to start from 10 am onwards in the morning and from 4 pm onwards in the afternoon. The standard itinerary lasts about 1h30m and includes a tour of the old town center and the famous Via Nicolaci to admire the most beautiful baroque balconies in Sicily. You will also visit the interiors of the most beautiful churches of Noto. There may be small variations in the visit of the churches based on seasonal opening times or religious ceremonies. In addition, booking or tours with private guide, it is also possible to request the inclusion of other points of interest in the town (admission fee, where required, not included).
